ASUS Declares the Commitment on Carbon Neutrality for Notebook Computer

ASUS declares that U53SD Bamboo series will follow "PAS 2060:2010 Standard for Carbon Neutrality" published by BSI to reach carbon neutrality. We commit to achieve carbon neutrality with the global sales of U53SD Bamboo series, reaching no net increase in the global emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) to the atmosphere.

ASUS has been devoting itself in sustainability development and innovation to help reduce environmental impacts for years. In 2009, after ASUS had the world's first notebook received the carbon footprint certificate, ASUS combined Integrated Product Policy (IPP) with ecodesign concepts to proceed carbon reduction. The process and data were verified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and ASUS completes the declaration of Carbon Neutrality.

After implementing Life Cycle Inventory, we could reduce carbon footprint by replacing the external plastic parts with bamboo parts as well as developing energy saving software and hardware. We expect to reduce about 10% of the carbon footprint. ASUS chooses to offset the residual emissions by trading them through a Voluntary Carbon Standard platform, thus the customers purchasing U53SD will be in Carbon Neutrality status. There is no net increase in the global emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) to the atmosphere.
