Legal Compliance
ASUS is committed to manage all products through a complete quality management process, in line with the product sales market local laws and regulations. In addition, we also disclose the environmental information of the products as well as the eco labels received.
J-MOSS is a Japanese regulatory requirement, defined by specification JIS C 0950:2008, mandates that manufacturers provide Material Content Declarations of six chemicals for seven categories of electronic products offered for sale after August 1, 2008.
Korean regulatory requirement "No. 8405, Act for Resource Recycling of Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Vehicles" entered into force on Jan 1st, 2008. It requires manufacturers and importers of those products to comply with Restriction of Hazardous Substances and to take responsibility in product recycle.
ASUS' Products are classified as electrical and electronic equipments and are in complied with the restriction identified in Article 11.

“The Measures for the Administration of the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products,”(known as China RoHS) implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China on July 1, 2016, regulates the use of hazardous substances in the production, sale, and import of electrical and electronic products in China. The aim is to reduce environmental pollution caused by product disposal.
The Measures employ two management approaches. The first approach requires products within the scope of the Measures to declare the restricted substances. The second approach limits the use of hazardous substances for products included in the “Catalog of Hazardous Substances Restriction for Electrical and Electronic Products.“
The restricted substances currently managed are listed in the table below:

On May 16, 2019, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China jointly released the "Implementation Arrangement for Conformity Assessment System for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical Appliances and Electronic Products," referred to as "Implementation Arrangements." This Implementation Arrangement outlines the requirements that products listed in the “Catalog of Hazardous Substances Restriction for Electrical and Electronic Products” must meet, serving as the assessment for determining compliance with the restriction of hazardous substance usage in electrical and electronic products in the Chinese market.
ASUS' relevant products include: laptops, desktop computers, all-in-one computers, monitors, and mobiles.
The Self-Declaration of China RoHS Compliance by suppliers (including producers) refers to the affirmation by companies to confirm that the electrical and electronic products provided comply with the standards and technical specifications for the restriction of hazardous substance usage through applicable method for submission . Products must adhere to the provisions of the "Rules on the Green Product Labeling" published by the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Since April 2022, ASUS laptops, desktop computers, all-in-one computers, monitors, and mobiles sold in China have obtained Supplier Declaration of Compliance of China RoHS.
EU RoHS Directive
The European Union announced the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment (2011/65/EU) in 2011, which requires that no more than the maximum concentration value by weight in homogeneous materials as specified in Annex II shall be tolerated. In order to enter the EU market, the 2015/863/EU Directive was further announced in 2015, adding the original 6 hazardous substances to 10 hazardous substances. In the future, hazardous substances will continue to increase.
RoHS Substances
According to the Annex II Directive 2011/65/EU list, the maximum concentration value by weight in homogeneous materials of the product must not exceed the limits of the following list of hazardous substances. Exemptions will be made unless the purpose of use meets the excluded items.

CE DoC and CE Marking
The European Union Declaration of Conformity (CE DoC) is a declaration by a manufacturer that its products comply with European Union directives. It covers the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive, the Low Voltage Directive and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive. According to RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Article 13, a CE DoC is required for RoHS compliant products to enter the EU market. The document is available on the ASUS Europe website (product support page).
The CE marking is a certification that a product complies with European safety, health and environmental protection standards. By affixing the CE marking to a product, the manufacturer declares that the product has fulfilled the relevant conformity assessment procedures. Products bearing the CE Mark are considered to meet the requirements for free circulation in the European market.

REACH
REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) Regulation (EC)No 1907/2006 is a European Union chemical regulatory framework that entered into force on 1 June 2007. REACH is based on the belief that industry itself should be responsible for ensuring that the chemicals it manufactures and puts on the market in the EU do not adversely affect the health of the workers exposed to them through the employment, the users who come into contact with them, or the environment.
SVHC
The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) has included 15 substances of very high concern (SVHC) in the 'Candidate List' which was published on the ECHA website on October, 2008. By December, 2010, there were total of 46 substances published in the list. Those SVHC might have the following characteristic(s):
- Carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction (CMR)
- Persistent Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT)
- Very Persistent, very Bioaccumulative (vPvB)
- Proven to be seriously harmful to the human body or to the environment, and the hazardous level is the same as those of the previous stated substances (e.g. Endocrine Disrupters)

Article 33 Duty to communicate information on substances in articles
According to Article 33 of REACH, the manufacturer has the obligation to provide sufficient information to the consumer/recipient of the article if Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) of candidate list are contained in its products in a concentration above 0.1% weight by weight (w/w).
As a well-known international brand, ASUS actively discloses that ASUS products may contain more than 0.1% (w/w) of SVHC related information:

Energy-related Products Directive
The European Union’s Ecodesign Directive (Directive 2009/125/EC) establishes a framework that sets mandatory requirements for energy-related products. The directive is implemented through product-specific regulations, which aiming to reduce energy and resource consumption.
ASUS implements the ecodesign assessment by applying “Internal design control” to fulfill the directive and the implementing measures. Please refer to "Circular Economy Model" for further information. In addition, ASUS discloses the information according to the implementing measure by product criteria.
The Implementing Measure for computers and computer servers, (EU) No 617/2013
In 2013, EU published the implementing measure regarding to the ecodesign requirements for computers and computer servers. The implementing measure not only requires the limits of energy efficiency and power management but also requires that the manufacturer shall provide the product information. The Implementing Measure for Standby and Off Mode, and networked standby, electric power consumption of electrical and electronic household and office equipment, (EC) No 1275/2008 and (EU) No 801/2013
In 2008, EU published the implementing measure regarding to the ecodesign requirements for standby and off mode electric power consumption of electrical and electronic household and office equipment. In 2013, EU published the amendment, (EU) No 801/2013, to further include networked standby requirements. The amended implementing measure requires that:1.Products shall comply with the requirements for power consumption and power management. 2.Manufacturer shall provide the product information

According to ECMA-370 "The Eco Declaration - TED" published by ECMA International, ASUS discloses product environmental information, including but not limited to chemicals, electromagnetic compatibility and safety regulations, materials, packaging, and energy efficiency.
Producers covered by Article 13 of the French AGEC Law and Article R 541-221 of the Environmental Code are obliged to inform consumers of the environmental quality and characteristics of their products.
